Hand-tufted wool & acrylic yarn I Driftwood-mounted I approx. 120 x 130 cm
This piece is inspired by the low tide at Castle Beach in Falmouth-when the sea pulls back to reveal striped rocks, mossy textures, and shallow pools held in stone. The colours and contours recall the moment just after the retreat, when what's left behind feels still and ancient.
Tufted by hand using both wool and acrylic yarns, I built this piece in layers of varying pile height, then carved into the surface to echo natural forms-eroded edges, soft ridges, and water-worn hollows. It is suspended from driftwood foraged locally.
Like the beach it references, this piece invites close looking. There is movement in the stillness, detail in the quiet. A textile map of tide and time.
