Acrylic on canvas / 100 × 70 cm
Painted from memory, Before the Break captures the charged stillness of a sky on the cusp-where storm and calm hang in balance. Blue begins to edge through the grey, but it's unclear whether the light is arriving or retreating.
This piece is part of the Cloudbusting series, exploring memory, mood, and the untold stories held in the sky. The ambiguity of time -dusk or dawn, threat or release-invites the viewer to bring their own reading to the moment.
Working in acrylic with soft, layered brushwork and sweeping motions, I built depth and atmosphere gradually. The darker palette holds a quiet intensity, broken only by the subtle promise of colour beneath.
This painting is a pause-before rain, before light, before change.
